A great surprise for both the bride and groom! Parents of the bride and groom can collaborate and include favorite recipes along with treasured memories for both the bride and the groom. Enter them into a Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal. Some entries can be shared at the shower.

Or in advance of the shower ask relatives and friends to send you recipes along with a treasured memory that is meaningful for the bride or groom. Enter these in a Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal and give as a gift.

Wedding Shower Hostess Ideas
1. Give a Recipes and Treasured Memories shower. Use this as a theme for your shower. Give the party an “old-fashioned” flare. Find historic pictures of brides and weddings. Or if possible, pictures of past weddings from the bride and groom’s families. Put them in picture frames and give to your guests as a shower favor. Or use them as decorations and place cards. Research “old-time” wedding customs, recipes and food. Prepare a “did you know” presentation or informational booklet for each guest.

2.
Give a “Recipe Shower”. What fun! Ask each guest to bring a recipe to the shower and a memory of when it was shared with the bride or groom. If possible, ask the guests to make and bring the recipe they are sharing. This is a thoughtful idea for those who need to watch their budgets. This idea also works well for clubs, church groups or friends who want to give a meaningful shower on a limited budget. From these make the bride a Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal.

Wedding Shower Game
Ask each guest to bring a recipe along with a memory for the bride or groom. Put them in a container. Write the names of the guests on a sheet of paper. Have the bride pick out recipes one-at-a-time and read the recipe name. Guests try to match the recipe to the name of the person who brought it.  The person then shares their memory.
wedding shower gameIn advance, ask guests to send you a recipe along with a memory for the bride or groom. Make a list of the recipe names and another list of “clues” from the memory. Guests match the recipe to its memory.

Don't forget to transfer the recipes and memories into your
Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal.

Baby Shower
Use our famous Kitchen Cherubs displayed on the front cover of our recipe journal as a cute, angelic baby theme for the shower. Give a
Recipes and Treasured Memories journal as the baby gift - a wonderful supplement to the traditional "baby book." Moms and Dads can include family favorites and as baby grows, add your child's favorite foods to the journal.

Grandma and Grandpa Shower
What a fun way for friends and family to celebrate the arrival of a new grandchild. New grandparents enjoy collecting items for their new grandchild - from baby toys to 2 dollar bills. A Recipes and Treasured Memories recipe journal is a unique and perfect way for grandparents to preserve cherished family recipes and traditions for their beloved grandchildren.

Family Reunions
Preserve favorite family recipes and memories for generations to come! In advance, ask relatives to send you their favorite family recipes along with their memories.  Type and copy each recipe and its accompanying memory in a size that can be pasted into the Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal. Bring these along with supplies and journals to the reunion. Relatives can make family recipe journals together.

Or ask relatives to bring a favorite family recipe to the family reunion. Bring your copy of Recipes and Treasured Memories Recipe Journal to the reunion and ask relatives to write in “their own hand” the recipe and memory they wish to share with you.

Ask older relatives to dictate memories of family dinners into a tape recorder. Transcribe these into your recipe journal.

Take pictures of your family at the event to add to the journal!

Scrapbook Pages
Create a recipe scrapbook by including photos in your Recipes and Treasured Memories journal. Use scrapbook embellishments and your favorite photos to create a precious heirloom for your children or grandchildren.

Or create an adorable, angelic
baby scrapbook for someone using the famous Kitchen Cherubs highlighted on our front cover.

A Unique School or Church Fundraiser Idea
Sell Recipes and Treasured Memories journals as a fundraiser for your organization such as school, church group or scout troop. Inquire about special rates.

Children's Literacy Activity
Reading and writing recipes and memories is an excellent literacy activity for children. This endeavor includes the skills of sequencing, reading, writing, following directions, and understanding mathematical and measurement terms. In addition, sharing a memory involves narrative writing with an element of "story telling." Children can make a recipe and memory journal to give as a gift to a favorite relative. What a great activity for advancing the literacy process at home!

Red Hat Society
Gathering recipes and writing down stories in the Recipes and Treasured Memories Journal is a great activity for these lively ladies!

Senior Citizen Groups
Use Recipes and Treasured Memories as a project for senior craft groups or for those friends who like to get together and do something creative!
